We climbed rocks, we met wolves, we said OM, we ate well, & we adventured in Big Bear.

Nature is definitely where I feel most at home — out in the wilderness, exploring, adventuring, & seeing new places and spaces. Upon hearing about this trip hosted by the nest life yoga studio, I knew it was a perfect outing & time to explore because it combined many of the things I loved. The outdoors, camping, yoga, food & rock climbing. When we arrived, it was quickly apparent that what Meg & Caitlin (owners of the nest life) hope to provide is not only a beautiful and accommodating experience, but a place where a community can be created. I met so many wonderful people with such creative and open mindsets, and made a few connections that have expanded beyond to retreat!

Seeing as this was really only my third time climbing on real rock (I can’t believe I never posted about my first time — in Yosemite! I’ll have to do that another time), I had a few struggles, climbing harder climbs than I have done in the past. I cursed my way up it, but I made it to the top (with a little rope help, but shhh!), and I felt accomplished. Conquering fears, connecting with nature & that inner peace, as well as making new friends was what this trip was all about, and it was perfect.

You already know my love for the Farias family – and I wanted to try something new, so I decided to spend a large portion of the day with them with a camera. These are only a few images that give a glimpse into their lives (I swear, David was there too, but he sufficiently avoided me & my camera most of the time. ;)), which were not posed at all. I just came, observed, interacted, and captured. :) There will definitely be more of these to come — the rest of the images, as well as potentially other people — since I want to explore, capture & create more. Enjoy!

I heart her. One of my best friends. We danced in the forest for her birthday and took a bazillion photos of one another. See the previous post & photo here.

I realize to some of you, these frolics are something ‘new’ because I haven’t really ever posted them on this blog. But we have been doing them for a few years now, and it’s such a gratifying experience, mainly because we get the chance to explore new places, take a massive amount of photos of one another, and get all gussied up for the whole process. ;) Total fun and lets us expand our creative juices with no expectations attached. :)

More to come!

The cutest, most adorable first birthday that I have ever been to! I shot Cassidy and David’s wedding a few years back (& their beautiful engagement session too), and have since become friends, so I was naturally thrilled to be a part of their daughter Rylie’s first birthday! A beautiful Breakfast at Tiffany’s theme (and if you know me, I just LOVE that movie — I mean, what girly girl doesn’t?) filled with adorable props, sparkles, streamers, tulle, macarons, ombre and cupcakes in various shades of sherbert! And that dress! Which of course was custom made! The angel topper was originally Cassidy’s for her first birthday, so I thought it was totally sweet that she reused it for Rylie. :) And — her first time eating cake! I love babies’ reactions to their first taste of cake. ;) And of course, the FOOD!! A brunch theme, with bite sized pancakes, waffles in cups of maple syrup, mini quiches and mini cinnamon rolls. It was heaven!

Edited to add: we have been featured on On To Baby! Check out the feature, as well as Cassidy’s write up on it here!

. . . . .

a few weekends ago, one of my best friends, jasmine and i took off to the woods and rented a cabin for her birthday. what ensued was deep talks over booze, hours of stargazing, and lots of picture-taking. especially of one another. in silly dresses. cause that’s how we roll. (check out her photos of me)

in this image, the last moments of light were leaving us when the idea came up to start sticking these wild oats into her hair. it was kind of magical, i think.

more to come. *
