The first time I heard Ben Howard was through this video. A fellow photographer had posted it on twitter almost two years ago, so I clicked on it and fell completely in love. With the video, the song, and the person singing. If you’ve never heard of him, I highly recommend you click on that link and soak it all in. Two other favorite videos/songs is this lovely soothing number & a recent one — the last one is trippy, and mesmerizing to watch. The song itself is amazing live — it gave me chills.
I am fortunate enough to have seen him live twice — the first time back in October, and the second just this past April. He is amazing live. Have I already said that? Cause it needs to be said more than once. He. is. AMAZING. live. Better than his recordings. Like 1000x better. His emotion, passion, and love for this art and expression simply permeate the air. He’s somewhat “small” now, but his talent is too large for it to stay this small for so long.
So I share with you the few images that I got from this incredible experience. It was a somewhat last minute decision for me to grab my camera and shoot off a roll of film, and I had to wrestle my way up to the front to get these shots, but I am so glad that I did (it helps to be tiny). :)
These are beautiful! What film is that? I love the tones and grain.
When I found myself at Sigur Rós a couple weeks ago I was wishing I had my camera. Maybe I’ll bring it along to Mumford at the end of the month….
