The photographer finally becomes the bride! Zach and I are excited on this new chapter in our lives, and it’ll be fun to be on the other side for a change!

Over a week ago, we took a week off and road tripped down to Bishop, CA, where we rock climbed, hiked down into the Owens river gorge (with two small kids, a baby and a small dog, no less!), had Gromit experience his first snow, went to a hot spring surrounded by snow, and all around had a lot of fun. I brought my little Fuji x100, which I’m finding is spectacular for travel, especially with a lot of hiking, because it’s so lightweight, small and fun to use!

Everyone knows the right setting and details can really bring out the mood and atmosphere of a place, especially at a wedding! Since I am still fairly new to the Sacramento area market (with most of my weddings out in the Bay), I’ve been slowly working with and getting to know local vendors. One that I collaborated with not long ago and had the joy of photographing inspo for is Botanica Specialty Rentals, which is owned and operated by the talented Audrey Chaney. She has an eye for style, and photographing her set ups (and being in her large warehouse) is like being a playground! Seriously, so much eye candy! If you’re in need for rentals for your event (wedding, party, shindig), be sure to check her out!

These two lovebirds chose some fun graffiti backgrounds in Downtown/Midtown Sac to reflect their love for urban & design, and it definitely fit their personality so well!

You know when your client’s daughter comes in wearing glow-in-the-dark cat ears, it’s going to be a good session <3

Small weddings are some of my favorites, especially if it’s a wedding in a little cabin, out in the mountains! That’s exactly how Rick & Sarah chose to get married, surrounded by friends and family, in an intimate little homemade wedding. What’s great is that they were also able to have their two dogs in tow, and who can resist that view of the night sky in the last shot? All of it was so much magic magic magic <3
